Online Grief and Bereavement Counselling

Grief is not an illness, and it does not follow a timetable. Support helps when the loss feels unbearable, unspoken, or when life has stopped moving with it.

What grief & bereavement means

Grief is the natural response to losing someone or something significant. For most people its intensity softens over months even though the loss remains. When intense yearning, disbelief or withdrawal persist and daily functioning does not recover, clinicians describe it as prolonged or complicated grief, which responds to structured support.

Common signs and symptoms

  • Waves of intense sorrow, yearning or numbness
  • Difficulty accepting that the loss has happened
  • Withdrawal from people, work or activities once valued
  • Sleep disruption, appetite change or exhaustion
  • Guilt, anger or preoccupation with what might have been done differently
  • Difficulty imagining a future that includes the loss

When professional support may help

  • Daily functioning has not recovered many months after the loss
  • You feel unable to speak about the loss with anyone around you
  • Grief is accompanied by persistent low mood or hopelessness
  • You are using alcohol or other substances to get through

Frequently asked questions

Is it too soon, or too late, to seek grief counselling?

Neither. Some people want support in the first weeks, others years later when a loss resurfaces. What matters is that talking with a clinician would help you now.

Can we attend as a family?

Yes. Families grieve differently and at different speeds, and joint sessions can be arranged where that would help. Mention it when you book so the right clinician is matched.
